Our society can be such a whirlwind some days, and tough to deal with or ignore. We shower our world with so many things we think are helping us, but internally they make us feel less confident in who we are as a person. Sometimes we don’t even realize it until the end of our scrolling, and all of a sudden we feel like a piece of trash and end up stuffing our face, or doing something destructive to deal with our self-hate. I don’t want to be apart of that anymore. No, thank you.
Today I wanted to share with you some pretty great influences on this world. Woman I’d rather turn my attention to. Here is a list of my Top-5 Boss Babes in no particular order…
This girl rocks my world. I just recently discovered her and I am so happy I did. She is someone who is such a bad-ass without it being too flashy or in-your-face, to put it simply. If I could (or would…) create a brand for myself, this is how I would go about it. She creates this dreamy, airy style which is so visually appealing, but also her content is exactly what I think this world needs more of. With her videos and podcasts, you will find self-love pep talks, motivation for chasing dreams without hesitations, and talking about her own personal experiences and sharing what she’s learned from them. She sweet, she’s positive and motivating as hell!
Guys, this girl is so good for the soul. Seriously. Another recent find of mine and I am already obsessed. She is all about preaching the body positive movement, and doing it in such a real and honest way. Her story is so inspiring, with going from being a super skinny health buff, to embracing her happy body where there’s way less pressure to be “perfect” in the eyes of society. She flaunts it without fear, and helps us all to remember how beautiful we are, and to stop obsessing over what we think that should look like. Yes, girl!
The name says it all. This girl has been such a rock over the years, where if I am having a bad day, I throw on one of her videos and I am instantly lifted. Another body positive role model – she doesn’t preach or have overly motivational talks by any means, she’s just relatable, raw and has the kind of confidence any girl could go for. Her love of makeup makes it so fun, and her get ready with me videos are a great way to kill some time and feel like you’re just hanging out with a close friend who makes you feel good about life, ya know? She rocks. She’s fearless. What more could you want?
If you haven’t seen The Mindy Project on Netflix or Hulu, girl you gotta get on that! Mindy is a whole other level of a role model. Not only is she rocking the body positive movement in her own, hilarious manner – her killer confidence shows through in such a raw, unapologetic way. Read this article where she interviewed for Glamour Magazine – it seriously is the best thing I’ve read in a really long time. She explains how hard work is behind her confidence, and you have to be a little brave. Okay, I’m not doing it justice. Just read it and feel awesome afterwards.
Another body positive queen that is truly killing it. Not only is she totally confident, gorgeous and highly successful, she just has this thing about her that makes you realize that even the most high powered, intimidating individuals can be real people too. She recently wrote an article for Lenny Letter (Lena Dunham’s blog/another favourite female), where she explains her confidence in her self, her body and what that means to her. My favourite place to find her is on Instagram, where she is always posting body positive, encouraging pictures. She’s a gem in the midst of what the media would prefer us to see. Love it.
As you can see, most of my favourite females are body positive advocates. I try not to get too caught up in that for the most part because to be honest, I know there is more to life than what your body looks like. What I love about these girls, is the underlining message from them – Embrace yourself, no matter what people try to tell you, or shape you into. Love yourself, every single inch of it from the inside out. Go after your dreams, and live your life exactly how you want to – unapologetically.
